I know how to make a deadline beautiful.

I first heard the words ‘graphic design’ while attending architecture school in Mississippi. After two years of architecture, I earned a fine arts degree at Millsaps college. My senior thesis was entitled ‘Illustrated Lyrics’. I have not stopped designing and making art since.
To earn a living as a graphic designer in Mississippi, I became my own illustrator, photographer, art director, silk-screen printer, exhibit designer and on one occasion, a truck side painter. You know you have a winning logo when the drivers tell you, “People are coming out of their offices just to look at our truck.” I moved to Nashville on July 4th 1988 and brought my first Macintosh computer. Over the years I have art directed and designed over one hundred record covers in all genres. Between the years of 1995 and 2005, I created over thirteen hundred published ads for MCA Records. Along the way I have learned that designers are problem solvers, regardless of the assignment; creative solutions abound. I enjoy working with photographers, digital designers, illustrators, set designers, copywriters, editors and all of the creative people that make successful campaigns possible. Graphic design has been a very good fit for creative impulses, pursuits and sensibilities. To this end, I continue to learn and pursue graphic design as an artist and as a career. I can bring years of experience to the job. I know how to make a deadline beautiful. -bill tyler- |
